Nativity scenes remind us of Jesus’ birth but they also depict a sobering reality: the Holy Family did not have a home on Christmas. Once again St. Mary’s Social Action Commission invites its parishioners as well as other area churches and individuals to share their nativity scenes and angels for viewing at this ecumenical display called No Room at the Inn. The event will take place on Friday, December 6th from 3 to 7 pm in the St. Mary Church Hall.
There is no charge for admission. Free will donations are accepted and the proceeds go to the homeless and the needy in the area: the St. Joseph’s Emergency Family Shelter, MICA and area Ministerial Associations.
Cider, coffee, cookies and music will be provided. There will be a drawing for donated door prizes at the conclusion of the event.
Last year over 100 crèches were displayed. If you have a nativity you’d like to display please bring it to the center in the early afternoon on the 6th and pick it up after 7 pm. There is a card to display with it which includes your name and a brief description of the nativity. Bring a friend and help celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
