Anointing of the Sick

Caring for those who are ill, as expressed in the Letter of James (5:13-15), is practiced through this special Sacrament.

Through prayer, the laying on hands, and anointing with sacred oil, those who are seriously ill, preparing for surgery, or in a weakened condition are entrusted to God’s merciful love. The grace of the sacrament helps the sick person unite their own sufferings with those of Christ, frees them from their sins, and gives them the courage to face the challenges that illness may bring.
